Alece Oxendine is a film industry strategist, educator, and writer with over 15 years of experience guiding filmmakers through the worlds of marketing, distribution, partnerships, and festival strategy. She has held leadership roles at Film at Lincoln Center, BAMcinema, Rooftop Films, Fandor, Good Deed Entertainment, and Columbia University’s film school. Currently, Alece is the Executive Director of Film Durham, a new film society in her North Carolina hometown, and she consults on distribution and audience development for filmmakers nationwide. Alece is an alumna of Columbia University and a proud HBCU graduate from Winston-Salem State University. Alece is also a decedent of of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina. Currently, she is transitioning from being a film executive, to being a screenwriter and author.
